How to schedule an exam
Pre-Assessments -
Before you schedule an exam, you MUST
take the pre-assessment. The
pre-assessment can be located in the Assessment Tab of the Course of Study, or
if it is an IT Certification, check the FINAL STEPS section in the Course of
Study, in the FIRST ATTEMPT CHECKLIST.
Mentor Approval -
Once you have completed the pre-assessment, you can request for the exam to be
approved… email or call your Mentor to notify them you are ready.
Note: If you do
not notify them to approve your exam, they will not approve the exam request.
Your exam will show either a Request Approval or a SCHEDULE
NOW button. When you receive the approval
from your Mentor, the SCHEDULE NOW button will appear when they approve it.
IMPORTANT: If you
do not click the SCHEDULE NOW button, you have not schedule your exam.
Once you click the SCHEDULE NOW button a new window will
appear. Follow the prompts. If you have
a question about scheduling the exam, you can use the CONTACT A SCHEDULER
function.
When you are scheduling an exam, you can enter in different
test centers in your area, and you will need to enter in multiple test dates
and times. This is because our
schedulers have to contact the test center and work with the availability they
have. The Scheduler will do their best
to schedule your 1st option.
Online Proctoring
– You must have the WGU webcam provided in the New Student Package to take an
exam online. Don’t lose it.
Your Profile - Set
up your profile as soon as you can. Do
not try to set up your profile and webcam the day of the test… this will take
some time to do and if there are any technical issues, you don’t want to try to
resolve them the day of the exam. It is
better to get the technical issues resolved well before your exam date.
Technical Issues –
If you have any problem with taking the exam, Do Not Contact Your Mentor... we can’t fix it. The Online Proctor has a technical support
number. Call them and work with them to
resolve your issue. They can even
reschedule your exam for you if the technical issue can’t be resolved in time
for you exam.
Scheduling Timeline -
The Scheduler has 3 Business Days to complete the scheduling request. If you have not received your appointment
after 3 business days, contact the Scheduler or your Mentor.
If it is within 3 Business days, and you
don’t have your exam scheduled, be patient.
WGU is working on this and scheduling exams is on a first come,
first serve basis.
Check your email
- You will receive email notifications regarding your exam location, date, and
time. Your mentor is not responsible
for contacting you about your test schedule.
If you miss your exam, it will be counted as a No Show, and 1 attempt
towards that exam.
Delays - In
scheduling, an exam delay is usually caused by the test center not responding
to WGU’s request to set your appointment.
Test Day Tips –
Confirmation Email
- Print out and bring your confirmation email to the test center. If the test center does not have you in their
system, this is the only way to prove you were scheduled to take your exam that
day.
Arrive Early
– Don’t arrive when your test is about to start. Give yourself time for any
unexpected delays, parking, and checking in with the test center.
What to Bring
– Your ID, Keys, Test Supplies (i.e Whiteboard, calculator, pens… etc.) Leave everything else at home or you will have
to keep them in your vehicle or store them in a locker.
Rescheduling – If
you need to reschedule your exam, contact the test center. They are the best and fastest way to arrange
an alternate test day and time. If you
don’t feel ready for the test… reschedule it.
You have a 24 hour window to reschedule the exam for most tests.
