Pacing Guide: Technical Writing Pacing Guide
Tips:
This course is set up to be completed in 4-5 weeks. Students often complete this course in 2-3 weeks.
Most information technology projects begin with a formal proposal, and this course will give you experience in creating one. Formal proposals generally include requirements, a summary, a description of how requirements are met and how the project will be managed, cost analysis, and implementation plans and schedules. Putting together a document like this will draw on many of the competencies that you acquired during the course of your program, and you will probably see some of those competencies in a new light.
Technical Writing is a Proposal for your Capstone project.
You must contact the Course Mentor to have your project idea approved before you start writing for this task.
A 1-2 page summary is required for the Course Mentor approval
- This summary is not graded
- The summary is essential to ensure your project will meet the requirements, scale, and guidelines for this course.
Writing is in a pretense format.
Evaluation follows the task directions, so follow the task instructions and make sure you have addressed each section required.
If you have already stated something previously in your paper, don't leave out the same information later in the paper if it is asked for in a different section of the task.
For example, In section B1, you provide a summary of your project and lay out the project. In section E, you have to provide the deliverables. There will be a lot of information from the summary in section B that is needed in section E. You MUST include all the pertinent information for each section, even if it is stated in previous sections.
Each section is graded independently of other sections in the task.
Use the template provided for writing the paper.
